Gifts

We have lived under the same roof for a few years now (indeed, we couldn't be accused of rushing into this marriage!) and have managed to accumulate many of the items that would traditionally appear on a wedding list. The one big project we have planned for our house is to refit the kitchen. The kitchen dates back over 20 years and we desperately want to update it.

With that in mind we have decided to set up a Kitchen Fund in place of a traditional gift list. You can view the list online by following the link below:

Jennifer and Chris's Kitchen Fund on WhatToGive.com

You can also find it by going to the www.whattogive.com homepage and typing in either "Chris Parsons" or "Jennifer Gameson" into the box under the title "view my friend's list".

Any contributions we receive will be absolutely fantastic and very much appreciated, but it's really your presence on our wedding day that will be most welcome of all.

How Does The Kitchen Fund Work?

We have used a website called WhatToGive.com to host our list. We like this site because it allows us to ask for contributions towards larger items such as cabinets and appliances, and to list less expensive items a variety of shops - perfect for our needs!

  • To contribute towards a large item, click on "more info", then "i'll contribute". You can use Paypal if you want to do it online, or alternatively we will set up a Kitchen Fund collection box at the reception.

  • For the smaller items, click on "more info", then "i'll get this". You can choose to buy online and bring the item to the wedding, or arrange for it to be delivered directly to us. You don't have to use the shop we have selected - you can purchase from any internet or high street retailer, but please make sure what you buy matches the item on our list! Again, there is also the option to use Paypal or bring a contribution to the wedding instead.

  • Important! Please ensure that you have "promised" an item or contribution so that it gets crossed off the list!

  • Rest assured that your gift will remain anonymous to all but myself and Jennifer.

Why Do We Want a New Kitchen?

Firstly, here's a couple of photos showing what our kitchen currently looks like.

You're probably thinking it doesn't look too bad - that's what we thought too when we bought the house, but we have since realised that it was never built properly in the first place! The floor is uneven and the end wall completely uninsulated. The cabinets have solid wood doors but they are very worn, and the actual carcasses of the units are in a terrible state. The original cooker packed up so we shelled out £20 for a temporary replacement from eBay!

What Will The New Kitchen Look Like?

We have played around with some designs for our new kitchen using Ikea's very clever Home Planner software - have a go, it's great fun to use! The images below give you an idea of what our new kitchen will look like.

Our preferred units and cabinet doors are from Ikea since we think they are great value. We have also decided to go for integrated appliances. We have yet to decide on the exact cabinets and appliances, so a contribution is all we are asking for at this stage.
