Around Khobang, the hillsides are covered in pine forests, home to such creatures as the musk deer and Himalayan monal pheasant. Nepal has suffered greatly due to deforestation in the Himalayas which has increased the prevalence of landslides. The forests of the Annapurna Conservation Area receive more protection than most.
