All the major trekking companies use Marpha as a stopover, and the result is a plethora of lodges, restaurants, grocery stores and even bookshops. Marpha is also the start of the walk to the Dhaulagiri icefall, but unfortunately we didn't have time to do this side trip. Rumour has it that the residents suffer penalties if they don't keep the street outside their houses clean!
