After a very chilly start, the temperature climbed rapidly next morning and we were soon shedding layers. Gangapurna still forms the backdrop as the path skirts the south and west flanks of the Chulu range. We are well above the highest permanently habited settlements here; the Nepalis that run the tea houses close down at the end of the trekking season and descend to a less extreme altitude.
